UNVEILING CEREMONY — FAQs — PRESS RELEASE — ABOUT

The Mabuhay! Filipino American Mural Unveiling Ceremony will be held in Woodside, Queens on Friday June 12th at 2:15pm. We will thank Filipino businesses and healthcare workers who are risking their lives on the front lines of the COVID-19 epidemic. This mural is located at the south east corner of 69th Street and Roosevelt Avenue, a common crossroads for immigrants in Queens. It is an area also known as “Little Manila” where the largest concentration of Filipino businesses are located in New York City.

Because many Filipinos throughout the United States are on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic, it has taken a devastating and outsize toll on their com-munity. Since April 5th, a NYC volunteer-run initiative “Meal to Heal” in New York City has brought 300+ free meals to hospitals and health facilities predominantly staffed by Filipinos — while also raising funds to mutually support small businesses and help keep immigrant restaurants afloat.

Our program will run for half an hour, from 2:15 to 2:45pm, and will focus on:
  • Thanking essential healthcare workers
  • Thanking local Filipino restaurants, and
  • Unveiling the “Mabuhay” mural

Remarks from participating restaurants, community groups, health professionals, and local leaders will be invited. Speaker list will be shared soon.
